Custom business software

Custom business software for a defined job.

When a spreadsheet or manual process no longer fits the task, a focused tool may help organize the work. We consider custom business software around a defined workflow, the people using it and the information it needs.

Your business need

Start with the work you want to improve.

Tell us where information is entered, what decisions follow and what the output should be. A calculator needs approved formulas; a tracker needs clear stages; an inventory tool needs agreed records and update rules. Establishing those details gives both sides a concrete scope to review.

For a new business, custom software can start with one defined task: a calculator using your approved rules, a request tracker, or a dashboard based on an agreed spreadsheet format. We assess the requirements and agree the scope before development begins.

Possible projects

Examples to help define your scope.

These are illustrative project examples, not completed customer projects. Each request is assessed for fit before we agree to the work.

Calculators and quoting tools

Calculate quantities or an estimate using formulas, assumptions and pricing rules that you provide and approve.

Workflow and inventory applications

Track requests through agreed stages, or record stock items and changes for a defined business workflow. Users, permissions and integrations are assessed for the project.

Dashboards and reports

Summarize information from an agreed spreadsheet or CSV format, with specified fields, calculations and report outputs.

What the proposal defines

Know what will be delivered.

  • The agreed screens, inputs, calculations, workflow states and outputs for the defined function.
  • Specified data formats and representative, non-sensitive test examples, with review and acceptance criteria.
  • The agreed delivery format, supported devices and versions, handover details, and any separately scoped hosting or support.

Deliverables, included revisions, acceptance criteria, third-party costs and recurring charges are specified in your proposal. Usage rights, ownership, licensing and any reuse or exclusivity arrangements are explained in the agreement.

Scope boundaries

Each application is assessed individually. Inventory, quoting and tracking examples do not imply a comprehensive enterprise system or every possible feature. Multi-user access, migration, integrations and more complex applications can change the scope substantially. We consider Windows computers, Android devices and iPad; browser-based or installable delivery depends on the project. Support for every device is not assumed.

Introductory pricing · USD

A starting point, followed by an individual quote.

Custom software starts at $500 for a focused calculator or utility with one agreed function. Estimating, job tracking and other business applications are scoped individually.

The entry price is not a fixed price for an inventory system, multi-user application or broader workflow. Requirements, complexity, integrations and support needs determine the individual quote.

Starting prices apply to a defined scope, not every project in the category. Entry pricing assumes one defined function or adaptation of a permitted existing foundation. The initial consultation and project quote are free.

Digital handover

Download the files or access the agreed application.

A suitable Windows application can be delivered through a private download with the agreed installation instructions. A browser-based tool can be delivered at an agreed web address, with hosting and access arrangements specified in the proposal. Deployment into your own compatible hosting account or handover to an agreed private repository can also be assessed.

We confirm the delivery format, supported devices, dependencies, access period, included files and handover work before development. Source code, licenses, updates, hosting and ongoing support follow the agreement.

Optional physical delivery

Keep an encrypted copy of your agreed deliverables.

For suitable projects, we can supply the agreed software files and documentation on a 32GB hardware-encrypted USB drive by tracked, insured USPS mail, with signature confirmation. This delivery add-on starts at $275 and is quoted separately from development. You keep the drive, and we provide its unlock PIN separately after recipient verification.

We agree compatibility, included files and installation requirements first. Physical delivery does not include source code or extra usage rights unless specified in your agreement, and it does not turn a hosted service into an offline application.

How we work together

Agree the work before it begins.

  1. Describe the current process

Explain the task, who does it and the result they need. Describe data in general terms during initial contact.

  2. Define rules and scope

We agree formulas or workflow rules, deliverables, price, review criteria and support arrangements. A larger idea may need a separately scoped first stage.

  3. Build and review the agreed tool

Review the specified functions using agreed examples. Additional features and ongoing changes follow the agreed review process.

Before paid work begins, we agree scope, price, deliverables, review, payment and support arrangements. Larger ideas may need a separately scoped first stage.

Read the project payment arrangements →

The agreement explains cancellation, refund, delivery and usage terms before payment. Integrations and more complex applications are assessed individually before any commitment.

Before you inquire

Common questions

Can the tool use my existing spreadsheet?

Potentially. For dashboards and reports we agree the spreadsheet or CSV format, fields and calculations before work begins. Importing, cleaning or migrating a larger set of records requires assessment and is not automatically included.

Who approves the calculations?

You provide and approve the formulas and assumptions used for the agreed tool. The scope should identify inputs, expected outputs and examples for review, including how missing or invalid inputs are handled.

Does your original AI power this software?

No. Our original AI models remain in development and do not power these customer projects. If a project needs an AI-assisted integration, we assess approved third-party services separately.

Will I own everything exclusively?

Usage rights, ownership, licensing and any reuse or exclusivity arrangements are explained in the proposal and agreement. Editable or source files and third-party components are addressed for the particular project.

Tell us what you want to improve.

Describe the need, how you handle it today and who would use the result. Please do not include passwords, credentials, sensitive files or private customer records.
